Job Summary

Geosyntec Consultants is seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our geoenvironmental and geotechnical practice in our Acton, Massachusetts office. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will apply engineering skills to projects involving site characterization and remediation, earth retaining structures, landfill design and construction, dams and water containment structures, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, and numerical analysis of stability and deformation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct geotechnical and environmental field investigations to gather data and information.
  • Monitor civil and environmental remediation construction projects to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Develop, install, monitor, and manage geotechnical instrumentation systems to collect and analyze data.
  • Use traditional or computer-based technical tools to perform and review engineering calculations, such as slope stability, excavation support, settlement, etc.
  • Support landfill and waste containment system design and permitting, environmental remediation, earthquake engineering, and offshore field investigation projects.
  • Review and interpret geotechnical data, such as boring logs and laboratory test results, to inform engineering decisions.
  • Develop construction documents, including specifications, drawings, and work plans, and prepare and review engineering reports.
  • Write and review engineering reports to communicate technical information to stakeholders.
  • Support proposal preparation, manage projects and tasks, and contribute to business and staff development efforts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering (required).
  • Advanced degree in geotechnical engineering (preferred).
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E., P.G.) (preferred).
  • At least 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (required).
  • Experience with modeling/design tools, such as AUTOCAD, Slide, and PLAXIS (preferred).
  • Regular fieldwork and overnight travel (required).
  • Excellent writing and communication skills (required).
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. drivers license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).
