Job Summary and Qualifications
The Intermediate Care Nurse provides direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.
Utilizing therapeutic communication, the nurse maintains a safe and supportive environment. They identify nursing challenges based on individual patient needs and develop personalized care plans through an interdisciplinary approach. Participation in performance improvement initiatives is essential, as is providing care that aligns with the hospital's mission and vision.
When serving in a charge nurse capacity, registered nurses oversee daily operations to ensure quality patient care in a supportive environment. Responsibilities include making staff assignments based on patient needs, acuity, and staff skills, while also acting as a clinical resource and role model for the team. Timely responses to inquiries from physicians, staff, or patients are critical.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct nursing assessments, diagnoses, care planning, and treatment implementation for all assigned patients.
- Perform initial triage evaluations and assign acuity levels to patients.
- Administer treatments, medications, and procedures within the scope of practice.
- Coordinate care with management staff, team leaders, physicians, department staff, and ancillary services.
- Delegate duties to technical support staff while maintaining accountability for those delegations.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
Nursing Licensure:
- Current RN license in the state of residence.
- BLS certification obtained within 90 days of employment.
