Position Overview
HDR Engineering is seeking experienced Transmission Line Engineering Managers to join our esteemed Power Delivery team.
Key Responsibilities
As a Transmission Line Engineering Manager, you will leverage your extensive technical knowledge and experience in the design and construction of high-voltage transmission line projects. Your role will include:
- Collaborating closely with Project Managers to oversee the engineering and design aspects of transmission projects.
- Creating and executing a project execution plan focused on the technical components of transmission projects.
- Mentoring and supervising Project Engineers, EITs, Designers, CADD technicians, and administrative staff.
- Supporting the technical elements of scope, schedule, and budget management, including proposal development and risk assessment.
- Leading the QA/QC process in alignment with HDR's Quality Management Systems.
- Conducting quality reviews of projects and participating in project evaluations.
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating teams across various locations.
- Engaging with senior engineers to enhance technical expertise and participating in training and seminars.
- Contributing to the development of technical papers and presentations for industry conferences.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural degrees will also be considered).
- A minimum of 10 years of design experience in managing civil/site design projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MicroStation, InRoads, and relevant civil engineering software.
- Experience in Project Engineering and Project Management.
- A commitment to actively participating in our employee-owned culture.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Master's degree is advantageous.
- Experience in distribution line design and/or modeling of steel lattice towers is a plus.
- A proven track record of effective collaboration with diverse teams and project staff.
- Experience with renewable energy developers and interconnection processes is beneficial.
- At least 8 years of experience in transmission line engineering within the electric utility or renewables sector.
- Familiarity with PLS-CADD, transmission structure analysis/design, foundation design, and construction support.
