Job Title: Digital Development Engineer II

CVS Health is seeking a highly skilled Digital Development Engineer II to join our team. As a key member of our Digital organization, you will play a critical role in delivering transformative applications and technology platform services via APIs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and deploy APIs for mission-critical applications, both customer-facing and internal-facing.
  • Build platform components that enable self-service capabilities for other engineering teams within CVS Digital.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize API development projects.
  • Develop and maintain API documentation, including Open API Specification documentation.
  • Work with business units to support their engineers and migrate APIs to the Apigee platform.
  • Develop shared flows to implement security, traffic control, logging, and error handling as part of common code.
  • Deliver FHIR APIs to healthcare teams following FHIR standards.
  • Onboard clients consuming APIs on the Developer portal and promote reusability of APIs without rebuilding them.
  • Work with clients to discuss overall architecture of service capabilities and security mechanisms used to consume APIs.
  • Perform health checks and set up monitoring and alerts to minimize outage time.
Requirements:
  • 4+ years of overall IT experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in building APIs on Apigee/Apigee EDGE/Apigee X or Kong or APIM gateways.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience on Apigee Edge or Apigee OPDK (Proxies, shared flows, flow hooks, and utilizing caches).
  • 2+ years of programming skills in Java, Typescript, and JavaScript.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong fundamentals in security - authentication, authorization.
  • Experience in implementing CI/CD for API Gateways and maintaining 'configuration as code'.
  • Experience in implementing automation testing for APIs.
  • Works with a cross-functional team, uses agile practices, writes, debugs, and delivers code.
  • Develops API proxies following API standards that connect to backend services using API management platforms like Apigee for seamless data exchange.
  • Develops Open API Specification documentation that holds the contract between teams for end-to-end development cycles.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering/Computer Science or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience.

Pay Range:

The typical pay range for this role is $64,173,040.00. This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, geography, and other relevant factors.
