Job Title: Behavioral Health Aide

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Behavioral Health Aide to join our team at JWCH Institute, Inc. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of behavioral health principles, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Scheduling and Coordination: Schedule appointments for behavioral health providers, including LCSWs, ASWs, Psychiatrists, and Psychiatric Med-level professionals.
  2. No-Show Follow-Up: Follow up daily on no-show appointments and promptly reschedule as necessary.
  3. Registration and Scheduling Process: Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the registration and scheduling process, including check-in procedures, payer selection, sliding scale and fee policies, and other relevant protocols.
  4. Behavioral Health Referrals: Process referrals, schedule appointments, and reschedule activities efficiently.
  5. Electronic Medical Record: Navigate the referral system within the Electronic Medical Record efficiently.
  6. Pre-Check Procedures: Conduct pre-checks for all patients 24 hours prior to their visit to ensure completion of all necessary paperwork, consents, and screenings.
  7. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with behavioral health and medical providers, as well as clinic staff, to address patient requests, including urgent cases, referrals to the Office of the Day, walk-ins, and other inquiries.
  8. Meetings and Training: Participate in meetings and training sessions as needed.
  9. Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with clinic and departmental policies and procedures, and generate reports from the computer system for the Director of Behavioral Health.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Social Work, or a related social service or health field is preferred.
  2. Experience: Minimum of one year of experience working with behavioral health patients or in a behavioral health setting is required.
  3. Front Office Experience: Minimum of one year of front office experience, registration, or clerical experience dealing directly with patients is required.
  4. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills.
  5. Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills and proficiency in documenting in an electronic medical record system.
  6. Bilingual: Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.

Working Conditions:

  1. Sitting and Typing: Extensive sitting and typing on the keyboard.
  2. Phone Interactions: Constant interactions on the phone.
  3. Lifting and Carrying: Occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 35 pounds.
  4. Manual Dexterity: Requires manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  5. Corrected Vision and Hearing: Requires corrected vision and hearing to within normal range.
