The Medical Assistant in the Podiatry Clinic at Midwestern University is responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients. This role requires a high level of organization, multitasking, and prioritization to ensure seamless patient flow and efficient clinic operations.
Key Responsibilities- Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, ensuring a welcoming and comfortable experience.
- Obtain and record patient medical histories, vital signs, and other relevant information.
- Prepare patients for examinations, assist physicians during procedures, and maintain a clean and organized exam environment.
- Perform laboratory tests, take vital signs, and administer injections as needed.
- Authorize medication refills, communicate test results to patients, and ensure timely follow-up care.
- Manage incoming phone messages, mail, and faxes, and provide accurate and timely information to patients and staff.
- Order equipment, supplies, and other necessary items to maintain a well-stocked and efficient clinic.
- High School diploma or equivalent required; 2-4 years of experience as a Medical Assistant or related field preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR systems.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods, with regular breaks and opportunities for rest.
