Job Summary

TYLin-City Solutions is seeking a full-time Senior Transportation Operations Engineer to assist full-time as an onsite Supervisor of a traffic management operation team in a Transportation Management Center (TMC) environment in New York City, New York.

The Senior Transportation Operations Engineer will be the main point of contact at the TMC.

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinating with city agencies and other stakeholders as necessary.
  2. Assess expected passenger volumes, daily events, and pro-active mitigation measures to create a daily plan.
  3. Determining appropriate mitigation measures to optimize traffic flow and communicating these to PAPD in field.
  4. Ensuring that proper contacts are made and protocols are followed during incidents.
  5. Leading communication with outside entities, especially during heightened congestion levels or busy traffic days.
  6. Receive a broad range of data, synthesize this information to identify potential issues, and then execute actions and responses to proactively prevent or resolve issues.
  7. Coordinating with and disseminating data information to TMC supervisors and operators.
  8. Participate in construction progress meetings to coordinate traffic management operations.
  9. Continually evaluating impacts of construction activities and identifying potential conflicts.
  10. Adjust procedures based on construction activity, new roadway configurations, or modified operations.
  11. Developing/update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the TMC environment.
  12. Ensure staff follow SOPs and any other approved Guidelines.
  13. Creating DMS messages to be shared with operators, facilities and partner transportation agencies.
  14. Entering real-time closure information and hazard information into mapping platforms.
  15. Overseeing and training Operators.

Qualifications

  1. Professional demeanor and the ability to interact with stakeholders both in-person and over the phone.
  2. Familiarity with regional transportation network.
  3. Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  4. Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  5. Ability to remain composed during stressful high-pressure situations.
  6. Strong Leadership, Mentoring and Teambuilding skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  8. Experienced with Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel).
  9. Experienced with traffic analytic platforms (i.e. Synchro, TACTICS, etc.).
  10. Experienced with using ITS devices used at TMC's (cameras, VMS, etc.).
  11. Knowledge of data analytics to help make data-driven decisions quickly.

Additional Information

TYLin-City Solutions is committed to pay equity.

As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $87,800 - $175,900 annually for this position and local market.
