Job Summary

Novant Health is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Echocardiography Specialist to join our team in Wilmington, NC. As a key member of our Noninvasive Cardiac Services Department, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic echocardiography and vascular ultrasound procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform diagnostic echocardiography and vascular ultrasound procedures under the supervision of a cardiologist for neonatal through geriatric patients.
  2. Document all appropriate procedural-related information.
  3. Provide patient care and support in a wide variety of circumstances.
  4. Transport patients as needed for all sections of the Noninvasive Cardiac Services Department.
  5. Provide customers with instruction and information regarding their exams.
  6. Perform and document quality assurance and quality control per protocol.
  7. May perform moderate or waived point-of-care testing per CLIA guidelines.
  8. Participate in after-hours call duty.
  9. Ensure the harmonious operation of the Cardiovascular section.
  10. Demonstrate standards of performance that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence.
Qualifications

Essential:

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)

Nonessential:

  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)

Education:

  • General Education Degree

Other information:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Work requires knowledge normally acquired through the completion of a one/two-year Echocardiography or Vascular Ultrasound program, or Medical Sonography program.

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, Registered Vascular Sonographer, and/or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or Certified Cardiac and/or Vascular Sonographer through the Cardiovascular Credentialing International must be obtained within one year of hire.
  • BLS Certification required.

Experience:

  • One to two years preferred.
