Position Overview: Tact Staff is currently seeking a skilled travel nurse RN specializing in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for an exciting travel nursing opportunity.

Unit Information: The unit is a Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit with a capacity of 24 beds. Staffing levels vary based on patient census and acuity, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:1 to 1:3. The unit is equipped with advanced medical technology including Baxter Medfusion pumps and Hospira infusion pumps, and utilizes Meditech for electronic medical records.

Candidate Profile:

Essential Skills: Candidates must possess:

  • Experience in PCVICU/PICU nursing
  • Ability to manage ICU assignments involving intubated and ventilated patients

Preferred Qualifications: Additional skills that will be considered advantageous include:

  • Experience managing care for PICU patients with congenital heart defects
  • Experience with multiple vasoactive infusions
Typical Procedures:

Common procedures performed in the unit include:

  • Placement of chest tubes, central lines, PICC lines, and arterial lines
  • Quinton catheter placements, paracentesis, and thoracentesis

  • Positive, helpful, and adaptable
Required Certifications:

Current certifications in PALS and BLS are mandatory.

Additional Information:

The dress code for the unit requires navy scrubs, and policies and guidelines will be provided upon hiring.
