Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Tech/Clerk to join our team at Ellenville Regional Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct patient care and clerical functions within an assigned unit, under the direction of a licensed nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care to patients, including hygiene, oral care, bathing, grooming, dressing, and undressing, ambulation, finger sticks, weights, and vital signs.
  • Assist medical providers and nurses with examination and treatment of patients within the scope of practice as requested.
  • Perform related clerical functions to ensure smooth operation of the unit, including maintaining an accurate and orderly filing system of documents required for the unit.
  • Follow and enforce ERH's Fall Prevention Policy.
  • Complete and document effective hourly safety rounding and maintain fall prevention equipment.
  • Communicate with external agencies and other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Obtain required lab specimens as directed by the licensed nurse and document specimens sent out and results received in culture log book.
  • Communicate results with appropriate medical providers and nurses and document all communication.
  • Assist in tracking and maintaining data related to quality improvement and patient safety measures, as assigned.
  • Ensure the unit is stocked according to established par levels with all required equipment and ready to care for patients.
Requirements
  • NYS Registry as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or Paramedic, with a minimum experience of one year in a hospital setting (preferred).
  • High School or equivalent. Enrollment in Associates in Nursing Program or other medical-related field preferred.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with caregivers, other employees, and the general public.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow detailed verbal, written, and illustrated instructions.
  • Effectively operate various office equipment, including copier, fax machine, computer, and phone system.
  • Ability to be flexible, organized, and function well under stressful situations.
  • Must possess effective communication skills.

Salary

$20.17 per hour, with a $2.00 per hour per diem incentive. Additional $2.00 per hour incentive for C.N.A., P.C.T., or E.M.T. certification holders.
