Job Summary:

As a Licensed Vocational Nurse at UTMB Health, you will provide direct nursing care to an assigned group of patients and perform nursing procedures within the scope of your education and demonstrated abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care given.
  • Participate in admission, discharge, and transfer procedures, and review and modify the plan of care as needed.
  • Deliver designated nursing interventions to assigned patients, consistent with the state medical plan of care.
  • Notify appropriate nursing and medical staff of changes in patient status, and recognize patient care priorities, multidisciplinary treatment plans, and potential patient care crises.
  • Follow physician's orders in the delivery of nursing care, and maintain patient's privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and properly, and execute written physician's orders for assigned patients.
  • Assemble equipment and supplies for various diagnostic or treatment procedures, and perform or assist others with procedures or treatments.
  • Adhere to required infection control, isolation procedures, and aseptic techniques in the delivery of patient care, and document nursing care in all assigned patient records.

Requirements:

  • High school or equivalent.
  • Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program and current license/permit as a vocational nurse in the State of Texas.
  • No experience required, but current BLS-HP is required.
