POSITION SUMMARY:
The Certified Nursing Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering quality care to patients by assisting them with daily activities and ensuring a safe and clean environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support patients with daily living activities and provide essential nursing care.
- Communicate procedures to patients prior to execution and engage in necessary instruction.
- Maintain a positive demeanor, interacting with patients to promote comfort.
- Assist with meal service, ensuring a calm and respectful dining experience.
- Facilitate patient mobility by transferring them to chairs and assisting with ambulation as per activity orders.
- Accurately measure and document patient intake and output.
- Administer post-mortem care in accordance with established protocols.
- Collect and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and weight as directed.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of common areas, including the nurses' station and utility rooms.
- Report any abnormal findings or changes in patient conditions to the supervising nurse.
- Promote positive public relations for the nursing department and facility.
- Document nursing care provided in a clear and precise manner.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring accurate documentation of patient information.
- Support diagnostic tests and specimen collection as required.
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members to enhance patient care.
- Demonstrate proficiency in core clinical skills specific to the unit.
- Respond promptly to call lights and ensure that personal items are accessible to patients.
- Utilize patient care equipment safely and effectively.
- Employ basic problem-solving skills to address and resolve issues.
- Provide one-on-one monitoring of patients as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Completion of an accredited Certified Nurse Assistant program and Basic Life Support (BLS) training.
EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience as a Nurse Assistant is preferred.
PATIENT CONTACT:
Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care for patients.
