About the Role

DESC is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Mobile Response Team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide integrated behavioral healthcare services to adults in need of psychiatric and medical attention.

Key Responsibilities
  • Case Management & Social Support:
    • Participate in a multi-disciplinary team to respond to referrals and provide short-term case management and medical services.
    • Assess clients for health care needs and facilitate linkage to relevant health services.
    • Advocate for clients' access to community resources and services.
    • Provide outreach and engagement services.
    • Participate in planning, organizing, and facilitating information-gathering, outreach, and client engagement.
  • Medication, Medical Services, and Clinical Skills:
    • Coordinate medical aspects of medication services for clients.
    • Provide individualized medication management services and education.
    • Assess clients for a range of health care needs and facilitate linkage to relevant health services.
    • Reconcile medication and medical records with hospitals and other healthcare providers.
    • Administer oral medication, injections, and provide wound care within scope of practice.
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Participate in psychiatric consultation, supervision, and program meetings.
    • Manage client registry to identify clients who need follow-up and reach out to them personally and through case managers and outreach staff.
    • Comply with clinical accountability policies and procedures.
    • Build trusting relationships with clients who may be wary and difficult to engage.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of Washington.
  • Interest or experience in working with homeless, formerly homeless, mentally ill, and/or substance abusing populations.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric medications, side effects, and methods of administration.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients displaying a wide range of unpleasant and/or bizarre behavior.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff from diverse backgrounds.
