The Position
We are seeking a highly skilled Flight Dynamics Engineer to join our team. This individual will be responsible for a range of tasks related to orbit determination, maneuver planning, and trajectory analysis of spacecraft.
Responsibilities:
- Use ranging techniques to perform orbit determination of spacecraft, including Range and Range Rate Measurements, Doppler tracking, Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI), Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR), Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), Optical Tracking, and Inertial Measurement Units.
- Craft, evaluate, and implement orbital maneuvers for spacecraft.
- Enhance tools and software for cutting-edge trajectory design, maneuver planning, and orbit determination.
- Establish, develop, and maintain interfaces between flight dynamics systems and other ground-based operation components, along with external data providers.
- Apply techniques for maneuver-planning and trajectory analysis.
- Provide cross-training to team members on operational software and procedures.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have experience in orbit determination and orbital mechanics, proficiency in Python for analysis and operations, skills in maneuver planning, trajectory design, and optimization, and experience with spacecraft and aerospace dynamics.
Additional Qualifications
Prior experience in a start-up environment, knowledge of defense customer requirements and small launch providers, and experience with medium launch vehicles and coordination with aviation and software partners are desirable.
