This is a challenging opportunity for a skilled Network Engineer to join our team at Apex Systems. We are seeking an experienced professional to support the Army in developing a hyperconverged, multitenant private cloud hosting environment.

• Collaborate with Government engineers to design and maintain the architecture of the cloud hosting environment.
• Develop, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for the VMware NSX network architecture in the datacenter.
• Provide daily administration of the network, including patching and upgrading of all VMware network components.
• Monitor health and utilization of the network resources and notify the datacenter lead when critical issues arise.
• Harden the network according to commercial best practices and government cybersecurity controls.
• Troubleshoot and root cause analysis of any hosting platform network issues.
• Develop and maintain system, infrastructure, and process documentation.
• Provide on-call support for triage and resolution of after-hours production incidents.
• Make recommendations for improvements to security, scalability, manageability, and performance across the datacenter network enclaves.

• Senior level network engineer experience with at least five years of experience in implementing IT infrastructure systems, specifically focusing on networking infrastructure in enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated expertise in VMware NSX, including design, deployment, and management.
• Proficiency in network engineering, including LAN/WAN, routing, switching, and network security.
• Familiarity with the VMware Suite of products: NSX, VSAN, vSphere, ESXi, ARIA, and other VMware tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues related to VMware infrastructure and network configurations.
• Experience with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) and scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and MPLS.
• Strong automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across the entire technology stack - network, storage, server, and applications.

• Working knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and the Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) process.

• Security+ or equivalent DoD M IA Tech Level II certification.
• Must have (or obtain within 6 months of hire) any of the following: VMware Certified Professional - Network Virtualization (VCP-NV), VMware Certified Advanced Professional - Network Virtualization (VCAP-NV), VMware Certified Design Expert - Network Virtualization (VCDX-NV), or other equivalent software defined networking industry certification.
