Student Anatomy Lab Assistant

OSU-Oklahoma City is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to support the delivery and maintenance of cadaver anatomy labs for the science department. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Anatomy Lab Technician, Department Head, and Lead Instructor of Anatomy to ensure the smooth operation of the labs.
Key Responsibilities- Dissect and maintain human cadavers and the lab environment to ensure a safe and healthy working space.
- Record work performed in anatomy labs, including activities performed on cadavers, to maintain accurate records.
- Maintain a safe working environment in cadaver labs by collecting and disposing of biological specimens and reporting any hazards to the anatomy lab technician.
- Monitor anatomy students in open lab sessions to provide guidance and support.
- Maintain lab coats and other lab supplies for anatomy labs to ensure a clean and organized workspace.
- Complete all mandatory training to stay up-to-date on laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Anatomy Lab Technician, Department Head, or Lead Instructor of Anatomy.
- Attain a grade of 'B' or better from either the OSU-OKC Human Anatomy course (BIOL2214) or BIOL1515 and BIOL1212.
- Receive a recommendation from an OSU-OKC anatomy lab instructor.
- Be currently enrolled in at least one class at OSU-OKC.
- Attain a grade of 'A' from either the OSU-OKC Human Anatomy course (BIOL2214) or BIOL1515 and BIOL1212.
- Declare a major in a relevant subject area.
- Receive a recommendation from an OSU-OKC anatomy lab instructor.
- Be currently enrolled in at least one class at OSU-OKC.
The successful candidate will work in a laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals and repetitive activities common to science labs. The position may require up to 30% of the work week to be performed outside of regular hours, including some evenings and weekends in a busy and noisy environment.
Physical Requirements- Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting up to 25 lbs., bending, standing, repetitive motions, climbing, walking, and computer usage.
- Ability to handle and safely dispose of chemicals, solutions, biohazardous material, and any other hazardous materials common to the science lab.
