Job Summary

Baldwin Wallace University seeks a skilled Financial Aid Counselor to advise students on financial aid opportunities, eligibility requirements, and the application process. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of federal and state regulations governing student assistance and be able to troubleshoot issues related to aid awarding processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to students on financial aid options, eligibility, and the application process.
  • Process financial aid offers and resolve issues related to aid awarding and disbursement.
  • Oversee specific program areas in the financial aid system, as assigned.
  • Collaborate with campus departments to improve customer service for students.
  • Develop and implement improved student aid delivery services and prepare materials for dissemination to students.
  • Work with other departments to coordinate student aid delivery.
  • Help develop and refine existing financial aid procedures and practices to improve student services and aid awarding efficiencies.
  • Participate in professional financial aid programs and conferences.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required, with preference for some financial aid experience.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and institutional policies and student aid regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including math and logic.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to interact well with students.
  • Working knowledge of computer and software programs that support the student aid delivery system.
  • Ability to manage and organize work activities in an effective manner and in compliance with student aid regulations.
  • Ability to work in a team environment in the recruitment and retention of students.
