Position Overview:
The Interventional Radiology Technologist plays a crucial role within the Interventional Radiology team, collaborating closely with Interventional Radiologists and Registered Nurses to provide exceptional patient care throughout the Interventional Radiology procedures.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the scrub and recording functions while supporting the circulator.
- Creating a safe environment by addressing patient needs.
- Collaborating with the Registered Nurse to gather patient information, recognize priority issues, and document findings accurately.
- Utilizing professional judgment to select effective methods for completing procedures.
- Anticipating and responding swiftly to the equipment and supply needs of the Interventional Radiologist.
- Educating patients, families, and healthcare providers about the procedures.
- Demonstrating proficiency in catheter and guidewire exchanges and power injector operations.
- Operating radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment while optimizing imaging techniques.
- Implementing radiation safety measures to protect patients and staff.
- Managing inventory for interventional supplies.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Radiology Technology program or equivalent.
- Certification and current registration as a radiographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Florida State License as a Certified Radiologic Technologist.
- Preferred certifications in Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography, Cardiac Interventional Radiography, or Vascular-Interventional Radiography.
- BLS certification within one year of employment.
Work Schedule:
This position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with options for 7am - 5:30pm (four 10-hour shifts) or 7am - 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. On-call duties during weekdays and weekends are part of the role.
