The Clinical Support Specialist serves as the initial point of interaction for patient services. This role encompasses both administrative responsibilities and direct patient engagement. The Clinical Support Specialist undertakes a variety of tasks and moderately complex operational/customer support functions. This role supports CenterWell's initiative to provide in-home primary care services to our patients.

This position involves both on-site and field-based responsibilities. When required to work on-site, it will be from our designated business center location. The role may involve traveling to assist healthcare providers with home visits, ranging from 1 to 5 days per week. In the field, the Clinical Support Specialist will conduct phlebotomy, take vital signs, and assist with initial patient assessments. Mileage reimbursement is included.

When providing field support, the Clinical Support Specialist may serve various locations.

This position also allows for 1-2 days of remote work after the initial probationary period.

The Clinical Support Specialist performs clinical tasks such as discussing patient symptoms, gathering and entering information into electronic medical records, taking vital signs, administering injections, conducting diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, and maintaining cleanliness of medical equipment and examination areas. This role requires close collaboration with Physicians and Nurses. Direct patient care is delivered based on active certifications. Decisions typically revolve around interpreting departmental policies and methods for completing tasks. The role operates within defined parameters to identify work expectations and quality standards, allowing for some flexibility in prioritization and timing, and functions under minimal supervision. Standard policies and practices guide the role, permitting some degree of interpretation and independent judgment.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a Clinical Support Specialist in a 'back office', direct patient care environment. Cross-trained in front office procedures.
  • An active Certified Medical Assistant/CMA or Registered Medical Assistant/RMA certification from recognized organizations. If not certified, must be willing to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Active phlebotomy certification or willingness to obtain certification within 6 months of hire. Hands-on professional phlebotomy experience is required.
  • Reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
  • Active BLS certification from recognized organizations.
  • This role is patient-facing and requires participation in a Tuberculosis (TB) screening program.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Outlook.
  • Ability to travel locally to multiple site locations.
  • Passionate about contributing to an organization focused on enhancing consumer experiences.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMRs).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual.
  • Familiarity with HEDIS measures.
  • Experience in Primary Care, Urgent Care, Family Medicine, and/or Internal Medicine is highly preferred.
