Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Clinical Leadership: Provide clinical leadership and consultation for other involved professionals on diverse treatment issues.
  • Develop and Implement Policies: Actively participate in the development, review, and evaluation of program-related policies and procedures, program planning, and integration of hospital goals and objectives.
  • Liaise with Medical Staff: Serve as the primary liaison with medical staff and other healthcare providers to facilitate coordination of treatment.
  • Prepare Reports: Prepare monthly progress/operational reports, identifying areas of improvement, concern, and recommendations.
  • Conduct Evaluations: Conduct comprehensive evaluations, overall findings, and diagnosis of patients through the use of history and other appropriate tests.
  • Prescribe and Monitor Medications: Prescribe and monitor medications, recommending appropriate clinical interventions.
  • Review Medical Histories: Review medical histories and records treatments in medical charts to ensure proper and timely documentation.
  • Collaborate with Other Departments: Work collaboratively with other medical and specialty areas to discuss and obtain consultative services for cases requiring a multi-disciplinary approach.
  • Provide Community Resources: Serve as a resource to the patient and/or family regarding available community and state resources, programs, and services to provide for health needs of patients.
  • Maintain Caseload Data: Maintain and provide caseload data, activity records, and other relevant information for use in clinic operations, performance improvement, or for planning purposes.
  • Provide Clinical Coverage: Provide clinical coverage for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients served to ensure provision of a comprehensive continuum of care.
  • Stay Current with Medical Practices: Maintain knowledge and proficiency in medical practices through continuing education, staff meetings, and workshop participation.
  • Participate in Medical Staff Activities: Actively participate as a member of the Medical Staff, serving on committees as appropriate.
  • Provide Clinical Leadership and Consultation: Provide clinical leadership and consultation for other professionals by providing expertise in various therapeutic interventions.
  • Participate in Departmental Orientation: Participate in departmental orientation, on-the-job training, and quality assurance programs/initiatives.
  • Participate in Educational Programs: Participate in a variety of department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels, identifying and discussing performance or training needs with Supervisor.
  • Develop Department Strategies: Plan, develop, and manage department strategies and operational budgets to ensure provision of services consistent with desired objectives delivered responsibly.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate Degree: Graduate from an accredited program of study leading to either an M.D. or D.O. degree required.
  • Residency Program: Successful completion of an approved Residency Program.
  • Clinical Experience: 7 years of clinical experience, including 1 year in a management role.
  • State License: Current, unrestricted, and valid State of Arizona license to practice medicine from the Arizona Board of Osteopathic Examiners in Medicine & Surgery. If licensed in another state, must possess such Arizona license within one year of hire.
  • Board Certification: Board certified required.
  • DEA Licensure: Current or eligible for DEA licensure.
  • BLS Training: Current and continuing BLS training and certifications.
  • Cultural Competence: Demonstrates ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.
