The primary lines of business encompass: Workers Compensation, General Liability, and Auto Liability.

The Assistant Vice President, Risk Assessment will:
  • Oversee daily management of a portfolio of large, intricate, loss-sensitive accounts.
  • Be accountable for the growth and retention of the assigned portfolio.
  • Negotiate annual pricing, terms, and conditions for renewal accounts.
  • Collaborate on new business initiatives with key brokerage firms in the Mid-Atlantic Region, designing and proposing suitable program structures and pricing.
  • Foster and enhance relationships with brokers and clients.
  • Develop a pipeline with major trading partners and engage other business units for cross-selling opportunities.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years of underwriting experience, particularly in the primary casualty loss-sensitive sector.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking abilities.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Established relationships within the local broker and insurance marketplace.
  • Comprehensive understanding of current insurance market conditions.
  • Ability to adhere to organizational and regulatory guidelines, along with compliance to underwriting authority.
  • Knowledge of Workers Compensation, General Liability, and Auto Liability Insurance coverage, including but not limited to ISO AL & GL and NCCI Workers Compensation coverage forms and endorsements.
  • Understanding of large deductible programs and their credit and collateral implications.
  • Capability to identify risk exposures, assess hazards, and implement appropriate controls. Proficient in analyzing claims and loss trends.
