Join Our Team as a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician

Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is a leading community health system dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare to underserved communities. We are seeking a part-time or full-time Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician to join our team.

About the Role

As a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician, you will be responsible for performing initial assessments for patients with developmental and behavioral difficulties. You will administer autism diagnostic testing, such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) test, and other tools as appropriate. You will also participate in the development of patients' individualized care plans, make treatment recommendations based on assessment findings, and work effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team.

Responsibilities
  • Perform initial assessments for assigned patients with developmental and behavioral difficulties
  • Administer autism diagnostic testing, such as the ADOS test, and other tools as appropriate
  • Participate in the development of patients' individualized care plans
  • Make treatment recommendations based on assessment findings
  • Work effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team
  • Communicate with providers, other physicians, case managers, scheduling staff, referring providers, and with outside agencies and authorities, in a timely and appropriate manner when and if needed
  • Connect patients to internal/external resources as appropriate; and document clear plan of care including referrals
  • Document need for referrals and work with appropriate clinic personnel responsible for guiding family through internal/external referrals
  • Complete all required documentation accurately, timely and thoroughly in accordance with department standards and with electronic medical record requirements and complies with patient's insurance requirements
  • Follow FHCSD policies and procedures, including (but not limited to), cooperating with the timely submission of credentialing and licensing paperwork; maintaining BLS certification; maintaining CME units based on the requirements of the specifying Board; attending all mandatory meetings; minimizing incident reports; using resources efficiently and providing services in a cost-effective manner
  • Maintain FHCSD behavioral standards, including (but not limited to), effective listening and communication skills and respectful interactions with colleagues and patients
  • Comply with productivity expectations
  • Meet clinic site and organization needs in a reliable and flexible manner; prioritize work and make an effort to adhere to schedule
  • Participate in administrative duties, including lab reports, charts, and medication refills reviewed and managed appropriately
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Graduated from an accredited school of medicine
  • Three years of residency training in pediatrics
  • Board certification in pediatrics
  • Additional subspecialty training in developmental-behavioral evals and assessments
  • Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), or Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS)
  • DEA license
  • Must possess current unrestricted license to practice in the State of California
  • Training certification in developmental/behavioral assessment and evaluation for autism
  • At least 1 year of experience required; experience with underserved, low-income persons, or homeless persons preferred
  • Ability to work effectively with patients from diverse social, cultural, and economic groups
  • Basic computer literacy ability to comply with department needs and expectations (i.e., electronic medical record documentation)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) capabilities strongly desired
  • Cultural and linguistic sensitivity to populations served required
  • Knowledge of and ability to take a detailed medical history
  • Must possess a demonstrated commitment to community medicine
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a generous compensation and benefits package, including a base salary range of $235,000.00 to $255,000.00, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. The final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. We also consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer.
