Dallas, Texas, United States Texas Instruments Full time
About the Job

We are part of the cutting-edge Aerospace & Defense team at Texas Instruments, where we push boundaries in technology design challenges. Our goal is to deliver high-reliability products for space, avionics, and defense electronics designs.

For over 60 years, our company has been a leading provider of innovative solutions for mission-critical design requirements. Engineers rely on our product availability, system-level knowledge, support, and detailed design resources to meet demanding industry needs.

The Systems Marketing Engineer within our Aerospace and Defense team drives technological advancements through system innovations in the A&D industry. Through direct interaction with A&D customers, product development teams, and sales, you will enable current and future system advancements in end-equipments like Space, RADAR, and Communications.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with customers and Field Application Engineers (FAEs) to identify top and scaling opportunities in focus areas.
  • Establish effective working relationships with key stakeholders (customers, FAEs, product lines), synchronizing project engagement to target growth in top markets, end-equipment, customers, and projects.
  • Co-develop competitive solutions with customer engineers and FAEs, demonstrating a comfort with change and uncertainty.
  • Execute actions driven by customer opportunities with urgency and technical proficiency, reflecting the 'proper paranoia' of anticipating best outcomes while preparing for the worst.
  • Relentlessly drive new design wins for new and existing products.
  • Create engaging training and technical content, demonstrating dedication to mission success and respect, credibility, and trust among peers.
  • Bring quick resolution to customer problems by interfacing across different functional groups such as design, product, test, packaging, marketing, and sales.
  • Ability to teach and influence others.
  • Identify and promptly adapt to changes in the market and technology landscape.
Systems Engineering & Strategy Execution:
  • Apply systems-level thinking to execute actions and growth strategies targeting specific markets, customers, and end-equipments.
  • Analyze key end-equipments to identify future trends, identifying opportunities for improving performance and adding value to these systems.
  • Conduct research and collect information to comprehend the intricacies of target end-equipment and/or subsystem.
  • Assist with generating the revenue plan for the organization.
  • Understand and align with stakeholder (customers, FAEs, product lines) expectations, design requirements, and challenges.
  • Transform design requirements into system architecture, evaluating options for the best solution.
  • Break down system requirements to determine necessary design effort and manage requirement changes, reflecting a comprehensive view and creativity in problem-solving.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to establish support strategies (design deliverables), timelines, and requirements for design solution.
  • Track progress, and lead interactions related to collaborative technical tasks with stakeholders and third parties.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts and the big picture effectively to a broad audience. Promote stakeholder alignment using clear, consistent communication.
Circuit Design, Prototype, and Testing:
  • Define the scope of technical work needed for actions, identifying engineering tools and collaboration necessary to meet design schedules.
  • Analyze and compare circuit design solutions, documenting and executing steps to identify the optimal solution.
  • Execute circuit design processes, including device selection, circuit analysis, simulation, and optimization.
  • Develop prototypes, from performing schematic capture, layout, to driving PCB build and assembly.
  • Develop and execute a test and verification plan, performing in-lab testing and troubleshooting when necessary.
  • Prepare and present design solution overviews to stakeholders, showcasing self-confidence and comfort with making decisions.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks of technical deviations during the design cycle.
  • Manage changing design requirements throughout the design cycle.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of analog/mixed-signal ICs and their application.
  • Experience promoting/marketing ICs and driving design wins by providing system solutions.
  • Familiarity with RF transceiver architectures, signal chain analysis to minimize phase noise and maximize SNR.
  • Deep understanding of key RF performance metrics (NF, SFDR, IP2, IP3, HD2, HD3, etc.).
  • Exceptional customer-facing skills.
  • Expert with RF lab equipment (spectrum analyzer, RF/microwave signal generator).
  • System-level circuit design and modeling with EDA tools, SPICE, Matlab.
  • ITAR Restriction: All candidates for this ITAR restricted position must be one of the following: US Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident, Asylee, Refugee, or otherwise lawfully admitted under an amnesty program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of industry experience at an aerospace & defense manufacturer.
  • Expert in RF signal chain for one or more of the following systems: radar, electronic warfare, and software-defined radio communications.

Estimated salary: $140,000 - $160,000 per year.
