About the Position

Urban Dove Team Charter School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for co-teaching five 55-minute classes, collaborating with colleagues in an Inclusive Co-Teaching environment, and applying the SDI framework to support students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Co-teach five 55-minute classes, utilizing a student-paced, competency-based curriculum.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in an Inclusive Co-Teaching environment, promoting a culture of high expectations and shared responsibility.
  • Apply the SDI framework to support students with special needs, ensuring they receive the necessary tools to overcome challenges and excel in their academic journey.
  • Manage student behavior using restorative practices and school-wide PBIS, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with various teams as a case manager, crafting individualized learning plans that cater to the diverse needs of at-risk students.
  • Track and discuss student progress, setting goals for continued growth and development.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), adhering to special education regulations and ensuring students receive a high-quality education.
  • Design and oversee Behavior Intervention Plans, promoting student success and well-being.
  • Engage in IEP collaboration, grade-level teamwork, and school events, demonstrating a commitment to the school's mission and values.
  • Regularly review student data through an electronic management system, utilizing data-driven insights to inform instruction and drive student achievement.
  • Attend a 3-week summer orientation and professional development series, staying up-to-date on best practices and emerging trends in special education.
  • Fulfill broader school roles, including mentoring and committee involvement, contributing to the school's overall success and growth.
