The Regional Medical Director - Overseas Operations will provide medical leadership and expertise to all projects within the Medical Services department of International SOS. This role is responsible for overseeing patient care standards at all sites and for all clinicians within the assigned programs, ensuring that clinical staff deliver the highest quality of medical care and that all policies and procedures are in place and correct.
Key Responsibilities- Medical Leadership: Provide direct oversight and coordination of clinical governance at all project locations, adhering to site-specific and regional policies and procedures.
- Quality Improvement: Assist the Medical Director with all aspects of clinical governance across all assigned programs, including developing medical policies, protocols, and procedures, and initiating, enabling, and monitoring quality improvement programs and initiatives.
- Incident Reporting: Report incidents and accidents and near misses, and work with the GMS Team to formulate an action plan to resolve and prevent them and mitigate identified risks and hazards.
- Statistical Data Collection: Initiate and improve methodologies for collecting anonymized statistical data regarding clinical performance.
- Liaison and Representation: Act as a liaison for International SOS with all relevant government agencies, contractors, and local/regional medical facilities.
- Disruptive or Impaired Clinicians: Provide oversight of all processes dealing with disruptive or impaired clinicians.
- Business Development: Partner with business development teams within Government Medical Services and other commercial staff as required to promote new business agendas and assist in solution design.
- Client Representation: Be the medical representative of GMS in front of clients when the MDR is unavailable.
- Client Engagement: Engage with all clients to ensure that contracted medical services meet their requirements.
- Project Coordination: Work with the clinical operations team and operations team to ensure that mobilization of new projects is coordinated and meets the required timelines.
- Practice Meetings: Regularly coordinate, attend, and direct practice meetings for medical leadership on sites as directed by the MDR.
- Recruitment: Actively participate in recruiting activities, including job description creation, resume reviews, and candidate interviews, in coordination with the GMS Recruiting Team.
- Health and Safety: Comply with health and safety standards consistent with the requirement to follow such procedures and regulations as may be laid down by the company, its client, or the host state.
- Data Protection: Comply with rules requiring personnel to reject bribery and corruption laid down by the company, its client, host state, or international laws.
- Occupational Health and Safety: Participate in the development and maintenance of a safe and healthy workplace, undertake all mandatory OH&S training as required, and comply with any reasonable instructions, policies, procedures, or safe work practices given by International SOS.
- Medical Degree: Medical Degree from a recognized US academic institution (MD/DO).
- Full Registration and License: Full registration and license to practice medicine in the US.
- Upper-Level Medical Administrative Experience: Upper-level medical administrative experience with overseas medical operations, to include immigrant/refugee shelter operation.
- Current DEA Certification: Current DEA certification.
- Minimum 5 Years Practice Experience: Minimum 5 years practice experience in an appropriate clinical specialty.
- Minimum 5 Years in a Management Position: Minimum 5 years in a management position.
- Relevant Experience: Relevant experience planning, deploying, and managing remote/austere medical sites.
- Good Standing with Professional Regulatory Body: Remain in good standing with the appropriate professional regulatory body.
- U.S. Government Medical Background: U.S. Government medical background is an advantage.
- Current or Previous US Security Clearance: Current or previous US security clearance is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Relevant US Government Agencies: Familiarity with relevant US Government Agencies for refugee/immigration operations, to include DOS, DoD, etc.
- Leadership and Oversight: Ability to oversee and lead the medical teams in all aspects of services provided.
- Clinical Governance: Excellent understanding of Clinical Governance practices.
- Computer Skills: Good computer skills and the ability to operate MS Office with Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Cultural Sensitivity and Awareness: Ability to interact professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, education, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds.
- Communication and Collaboration: Aptitude to collaborate and communicate effectively with managers, co-workers, and public personnel.
- Customer Service: Consistently demonstrate a positive and proactive customer service attitude.
