Role Responsibilities

This position entails advanced server systems operations to support TxDOT's District and Division IT systems. Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading the development, implementation, and upkeep of IT server architecture, processes, policies, and standards.
  • Managing multiple projects and systems related to server development and lifecycle management.
  • Acting as a project leader or lead worker.
  • Serving as the subject matter expert on Windows Server technologies.
  • Evaluating new or existing processes and systems for operational efficiency.
  • Monitoring and analyzing performance metrics of current technologies.
  • Designing, constructing, testing, and maintaining reports based on customer requests.
  • Coordinating training and installation schedules for new or updated systems.
  • Defining system goals and creating flowcharts and diagrams to illustrate operational processes.
  • Facilitating user security changes and authorizations.
  • Completing additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications

Education - A Bachelor's Degree in Computer/Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Experience - A minimum of 5 years in systems analysis, application support, or related fields is required.

Licenses and Certifications

A valid driver's license is necessary as this role involves driving a state vehicle.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Windows Server versions 2008 through 2022
  • Proficiency in Active Directory
  • Experience managing Group Policy Objects
  • Knowledge of ADFS
  • Familiarity with PKI and Certificate Authority

  • Understanding of Windows Server development methodologies
  • Skills in planning and implementing Windows Server systems
