Job Summary:

Wellstar Health System, Inc. is seeking an experienced Oncology Nurse Navigator to join our team. As a licensed registered nurse with oncology-specific clinical knowledge, you will provide individualized assistance to patients, families, and caregivers to help overcome barriers to care. Utilizing the nursing process, you will offer education and resources to facilitate informed decision making and timely access to quality health and psychosocial care throughout all phases of the cancer continuum.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  • Collaborate with program leaders and administration to perform and evaluate data from the community needs assessment to identify areas of improvement that will affect the patient navigation process and program.
  • Provide relationship-based patient-centered care that is consistent with population-specific characteristics in a manner that adapts service delivery to reflect an understanding of diversity.
  • Participate in growth and development activities with the navigation team, providing leadership in elements of program needs that the navigators' expertise implores.
  • Coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model, including diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods.
  • Participate and support performance improvement, inclusive of all stakeholders, promoting an inter/intra-disciplinary process and actively supporting/participating in shared governance at all levels in the system.
Required Minimum Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or BLS Instructor
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a single state or multi-state compact license
Required Minimum Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of nursing practice
  • Minimum 2 years of oncology experience
Required Minimum Skills:
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language
  • Optimize the use of technology to support clinical care and hold basic computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies in a decisive, composed, and respectful manner
  • Excellent time management skills and strong critical thinking skills
