Position Summary:
The Manager of Aerodynamic Engineering for Turbines plays a crucial role in our organization, responsible for leading a team of expert aerodynamicists located in the United States. This team is engaged in the pioneering design and development of state-of-the-art aerodynamic components tailored for commercial turbomachinery. The role encompasses guiding the team through the complete engine design lifecycle, which includes the New Technology Introduction (NTI) phase focusing on early technological advancements, the pre-New Product Introduction (NPI) phase for initial assessments and planning, the comprehensive NPI process for launching new products, and ongoing support for existing products. This diverse responsibility ensures that the team remains at the forefront of aerodynamic technology, significantly enhancing the performance and reliability of turbomachinery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Team Development: Direct the Turbine Aerodynamics team, fostering innovation, teamwork, and alignment with organizational and client objectives.
- Project and Resource Management: Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to establish project budgets, allocate resources, set milestones, and define timelines for both technological and programmatic initiatives.
- Execution and Delivery: Ensure the team effectively prioritizes tasks and meets project milestones, while being accountable for deliverables to stakeholders.
- Effective Communication: Maintain open communication channels with team members, leadership, clients, and related disciplines, ensuring clarity and transparency.
- Talent Development: Promote talent growth initiatives, aligning team capabilities with product development requirements and supporting career progression.
- Advocacy and Continuous Improvement: Champion safety, quality, and diversity values; cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and lean methodologies.
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the aviation sector.
- At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role.
- Advanced degree in engineering with a focus on turbine aerodynamics.
- At least 10 years of experience in turbine aerodynamics design or a related field.
- Proficiency in aerodynamic design tools and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
- Experience in leading aerodynamic design and technology development initiatives.
- Skilled in applying lean methodologies such as FLIGHT DECK.
- Strong project management and leadership skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary, global teams.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
