Job Summary

Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center is seeking an experienced Travel Nurse to join our team in a Med/Surg position specializing in post-op GI and wound care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care in a post-op Med/Surg setting, with a focus on GI and wound care.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Monitor patients' conditions and report any changes or concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Participate in patient education and discharge planning.
Requirements
  • Minimum of one travel contract completed.
  • 2 years of experience in acute care, with a focus on Med/Surg and post-op care.
  • Experience working full-time on a post-op unit.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with post-op GI and wound care.
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures, including Pancreatectomy, Esphagectomy, Whipple, Spleenectomy, Adrenalectomy, Cystectomy, Colectomy, Thyroidectomy, Mastectomy, Hepatic Resection, Nissen, Bariatric Surgery, TURP, Gastrectomy, Parathyroidectomy, and Ex lap.
  • Experience with equipment skills, including PEG, PEJ, PCA, Per drain, JP drain, hemo vac, wound vac, nephrostomy tubes, Ileostomy, Colostomy, Urostomy, and surgical drains.
