Job Summary:

The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is seeking a full-time, non-tenure core faculty educator in pathology. The ideal candidate will have a history of teaching excellence in medical education and leadership skills to serve as core faculty in integrated courses. The selected candidate will provide instruction in basic science/foundational courses across multiple disciplines, including Pathology, Histology, Pathophysiology, Physiology, and Cell Biology. They will also serve as facilitator for small group discussion in case-based learning, problem-based learning, and other small group sessions.

Major Responsibilities:Phase 1: Medical Students
  • Develop goals, learning objectives, prework assignments, pre- and post-test assessment questions, and supplemental materials for each topic in the Phase 1 sequence.
  • Assist in developing cases for the case-based curriculum.
  • Run large group interactive sessions and facilitate case-based learning sessions.
  • Participate in clinical correlations and illustrate horizontal and vertical integration of basic science materials.
  • Routinely teach and model professionalism and ethics.
Phase 2: Medical Students
  • Provide support, guidance, and mentoring to each student during their clerkship year.
  • Review reflections/experiences of students.
  • Participate in developing and delivering sessions that integrate foundational/basic and clinical sciences.
Phase 3: Medical Students
  • Continue to provide a mentoring relationship to students.
  • Review and edit students' personal statements.
  • Write letter of support for residency application.
General
  • Prepare for, attend, and participate in monthly faculty meetings.
  • Work on projects within at least one working group.
  • Participate in and facilitate faculty development sessions and retreats.
