About the Role

UIC Alaska is seeking a highly skilled Cable Splicer to join our team. As a Cable Splicer, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining structured cabling systems, including fiber optic and copper cable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and Repair: Ensure that all cabling systems are installed and repaired in accordance with technical standards and specifications.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot issues with cabling systems, including pneumatic and electrical malfunctions.
  • Testing and Quality Control: Perform regular testing and quality control checks to ensure that cabling systems meet required standards.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in equipment troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance for structured cabling systems.
  • Certifications: Certification in Fiber Optic Cable, including Outside Plant Installation, Termination (Connectors), Splicing, Testing.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time, twist, bend, and squat periodically.
Security Clearance Requirements

Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
