Position Summary
The Facility Maintenance Specialist is tasked with executing routine upkeep responsibilities, which encompass basic carpentry, painting, and general repairs of equipment or facilities. All carpentry, electrical tasks, or minor plumbing work will be conducted under the guidance of certified professionals.
This role requires daily reporting to a supervisor or lead to receive work assignments.
Collaboration with colleagues is essential for the repair or relocation of machinery, components, or equipment.
Responsibilities include starting machinery and monitoring mechanical performance to assess efficiency and identify issues.
Applying lubricants or adhesives to machinery, components, or other equipment will be performed in accordance with established protocols.
Reassembly of machines following maintenance or repair tasks is also required.
Responsibilities extend to clearing blocked drains, fixing leaks, and undertaking other straightforward plumbing tasks.
Maintaining tools and maintenance equipment in optimal condition is crucial.
Ensuring the maintenance area, workshop, and company vehicles are kept orderly is expected.
Additional related duties may be assigned as necessary.
Essential Functions
To successfully fulfill this role, individuals must be capable of performing each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to execute essential functions.
Work on-site for eight hours daily, Monday through Friday.
The Facility Maintenance Specialist supports both indoor and outdoor operations, ensuring high standards of maintenance in a government facility while minimizing disruptions to ongoing business activities.
Tasks include painting, pavement upkeep, equipment maintenance, cleaning, and inspections.
Operation of forklifts, skid steers, and snowplows is part of the role.
Responsibilities include assisting in the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems (HVAC/R, compressors, etc.), electrical systems (UPS, generators, MCCs, etc.), and life safety systems in a modern, ISO-certified automotive emissions laboratory.
Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and assist with snow removal is necessary.
Monthly inspections of eyewash and shower stations are required.
Proficiency in MS Office is essential.
Experience in a collaborative work environment is preferred.
Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with team members and clients is vital.
A passion for maintaining facilities and ensuring they are kept in excellent condition is important.
Qualifications - Experience, Education, and Certification
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.
A valid driver's license is mandatory.
A minimum of three years of experience in facility, building, or commercial/industrial complex operations and maintenance.
At least two years of experience in HVAC/R, electrical, plumbing, or general mechanical maintenance.
Experience operating bobcats, forklifts, and snowplows is necessary.
Knowledge of acceptable maintenance practices and understanding of occupational safety and health regulations is required.
Dependability and reliability are essential traits.
Ability to read simple instructions and follow basic diagrams is necessary.
Capability to perform straightforward tasks independently after receiving specific instructions is expected.
General knowledge of basic equipment used in maintenance trades is required.
Ability to determine the necessary tools and equipment for each task is crucial.
Additional Qualifying Factors
As a condition of employment, candidates may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and undergo acceptable reference and background checks.
Security Clearance Requirements
All contractor personnel working on federal sites must meet federal government security clearance standards. The contractor will submit security clearance information for each employee as required by current government identification card application procedures.
All employees must be authorized as acceptable under the contracting officer for the prime contract.
Candidates must pass a physical examination along with a thorough background investigation.
Support Hours: Applicants should be available during core work hours, typically from 0900 to 1430, or as established by the responsible authority. The facility may close during local or national emergencies or similar government-directed closures.
Place of Performance: The primary work location will be within government facilities.
Travel: Applicants may be required to travel to various locations within CONUS and OCONUS in support of this contract.
