As a key member of the healthcare team, the position entails simulating treatment setups, executing dosimetric calculations, administering radiation therapy treatments, and providing support in patient care management.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Completion of an accredited program in Radiation Therapy Technology.

License/Certification: Certified Radiation Therapist by the American Registry of Radiation Therapy Technologists (ARRT-T), and licensed by the Texas Department of Health (CMRT).

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
  • Capability to lift and/or assist patients in collaboration with others to fulfill job responsibilities.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Simulates treatment setups in accordance with physician directives.
  • Conducts dosimetric calculations under the guidance of a physicist or dosimetrist, utilizing both manual and computerized methods.
  • Delivers the prescribed radiation therapy regimen accurately.
  • Assists in Brachytherapy procedures.
  • Prepares treatment machines/simulators and verifies all safety and operational protocols; reports any irregularities to the physicist.
  • Checks laser positioning to confirm correct alignment.
  • Validates dosage through barometric and thermometric measurements; communicates any inconsistencies to the physicist.
  • Ensures safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; adheres to all policies, procedures, and standards while managing time, supplies, productivity, and service quality.
  • Encourages personal professional development by fulfilling requirements for mandatory and continuing education and skills competency; supports departmental goals that contribute to organizational success; serves as a mentor and resource for less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to providing compassionate and personalized care to every community member.
  • Exemplifies service standards by delivering safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
