Licensed Practical Nurse

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Fresenius Medical Center. As a key member of our hemodialysis health care team, you will provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for assigned patients in accordance with our policies, procedures, and training, as well as state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient-Centered Care: Provide patient care under the direct supervision of a Hemodialysis Registered Nurse for assigned patients in the acute setting, excluding Intensive Care Units as permitted by state requirements.
- Technical Aspects: Perform all technical aspects of dialysis procedures for assigned patients as prescribed to administer and monitor treatments in accordance with current treatment plans under the direction of the Hemodialysis RN.
- Communication and Documentation: Report and document all new and unusual incidents, information, complaints, or problems to the RN, ensuring accurate documentation of patient information in the individual patient record, including the hospital Electronic Medical System (EMS) and the Acute Care Electronic System (ACES).
- Safety and Infection Control: Ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in the dialysis facility treatment area, addressing blood spills immediately according to FMCNA Bloodborne Pathogen Control Policies.
- Continuous Learning: Participate in scheduled in-service classes to acquire knowledge and skills in current practice related to dialysis principles and technique.
Requirements:
- Education: Current appropriate state licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Experience: Minimum of one year of medical-surgical nursing experience, with six months of hemodialysis experience preferred but not required.
- Certifications: Successful completion of a training course in theory and practice of hemodialysis, CPR Certification, and Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Certification preferred or obtained within the first year of employment.
Work Environment: This position requires frequent, prolonged periods of standing and the ability to bend over. The employee may occasionally need to move, with assistance, machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs., and may lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs. The work environment is characteristic of a healthcare facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels.
