Position Summary
The General Surgery Department at Northridge Hospital Medical Center is actively seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR). This role involves coordinating, supervising, and implementing patient care based on professional expertise, knowledge, and evidence-based practices.
The Registered Nurse is expected to practice autonomously, adhering to professional standards, the Nurse Practice Act, and specific hospital job descriptions relevant to the unit.
This position is vital to the success of Northridge Medical Center and requires a thorough understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission and organizational values of the Dignity Health system.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and standards, including quality assessment and improvement programs, legal, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Apply clinical knowledge and expertise to coordinate patient care, regularly planning and evaluating the care of patients.
- Establish and maintain professional and collaborative relationships with staff members, physicians, patients, and their families while ensuring confidentiality of all patient information.
- Document and communicate all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient conditions to the appropriate interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
- Demonstrate effective nursing judgment and a solid understanding of the nursing process.
- Conduct hourly rounds with patients and care partners, focusing on pain management, skin integrity, elimination, and other patient needs.
- Communicate the plan of care to patients and care partners, encouraging their active involvement throughout hospitalization.
- Exhibit a professional and cooperative demeanor when interacting with all members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited RN school of nursing.
- Current California RN license required.
- Minimum of 3 years of current acute care registered nursing experience in a specialty area required.
- At least one year of experience in a CVOR or related setting.
- Current AHA BLS certification required.
- LA City Fire Card required within 90 days of hire.
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) preferred.
- Current certification in the specialty area preferred.
This position is represented by SEIU L121RN and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Compensation
Pay Range: $71.80/hour
