Position Overview: SEC Accountant

Lewis James Professional, a woman-owned staffing and consulting firm, is seeking a qualified SEC Accountant for a contract role within a financial services organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor the Financial Operations team, providing daily guidance and development opportunities.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of both internal and external financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Guarantee that all accounting activities adhere to relevant legal and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in committee meetings, offering financial insights and data analysis.
  • Manage the collection of data for internal and external audits.
  • Act as the primary liaison for Financial Operations on special internal projects and budgeting efforts, coordinating necessary tasks and resources.
  • Conduct monthly closing procedures and review reconciliations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Accounting, or Finance.
  • Experience in SEC reporting and banking is essential.
  • A minimum of five to seven years of accounting experience, ideally within a financial institution.
  • In-depth understanding of accounting standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the role.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet applications and formula creation.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to specific software tools required for the position.
  • Experience with Disclosure and/or Workiva platforms is advantageous.
  • CPA certification is preferred.
  • Experience in leasing accounting is a plus.
