We are currently seeking a Junior Geographic Information Specialist to enhance our capabilities.
The selected candidate will contribute to increasing both in-house and contract production capacity for nautical charts and electronic navigational charts (ENC), enabling quicker responses to client requests while improving the quality and precision of our portfolio. Responsibilities include:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluating sources such as raster nautical charts, ENC, hydrographic survey data, Notices to Mariners (NtM), and other relevant datasets to create project packages for production.
- Updating maritime features and attributes using ArcGIS-based Data Capture and Finishing Environment (DCAFE) or ESRI-based Foundation GEOINT Modernization (FG MOD) workstations.
- Extracting data from various sources, including raster nautical charts and digital hydrographic survey data.
- Utilizing Python scripting in ArcGIS to enhance production efficiency.
- Conducting data conversion and migration tasks.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of one year of experience in geography, cartography, or Geographic Information Systems (GIS), including proficiency in ArcGIS applications, or a relevant Bachelor's Degree.
- Experience in creating shapefiles, geodatabases, and geospatial features.
- Familiarity with digital cartography, image processing, and geospatial production techniques.
- Knowledge of geographic names information from the Geographic Names Database (GNDB).
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Eligibility for TS/SCI clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Polygraph.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
- Effective communication and information exchange with colleagues and senior staff.
