About Us
Our Department of Plastic Surgery, Maxillofacial and Oral Health is experiencing a period of significant growth and transformation. We are seeking a visionary leader to establish and guide our new Division of Pediatric Plastic and Craniofacial Surgery.
We have a rich history of excellence in this field, dating back to Dr. Milton Edgerton, a world-renowned pediatric and craniofacial surgeon who attracted patients from across the globe. We aim to continue his legacy by providing exceptional care for children with a wide range of conditions, including cleft lip and palate, craniosynostosis, benign malformations, and congenital deformities.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Develop and expand our pediatric plastic and craniofacial surgical services through outreach and collaboration with key stakeholders within UVAHealth and the broader healthcare community.
- Provide comprehensive care for adult patients with trauma-related or cancer-induced disfigurements.
- Actively participate in multidisciplinary teams dedicated to cleft care, head shape deformities, and other specialized services.
Administrative Leadership
- Evaluate and optimize existing pediatric plastic and craniofacial surgery care pathways.
- Oversee on-call schedules, clinic operations, credentialing processes, and collaborative efforts with supporting programs.
- Develop and implement metrics-driven initiatives to elevate our division's reputation as a center of excellence.
Research, Education, and Innovation
- Maintain national visibility within the field through active participation in specialty societies, presentations, and publications.
- Lead the development of innovative programs and initiatives that position our division at the forefront of pediatric plastic and craniofacial surgery.
- Provide advanced educational opportunities for residents and foster their pursuit of prestigious fellowships.
- Promote health services research within the division.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or terminal degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of three years of experience in pediatric plastic and craniofacial surgery.
