The Custodial Services Associate is responsible for performing essential manual tasks in the upkeep and sanitation of campus facilities. This role is crucial for maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute cleaning, waxing, and polishing of floors, restrooms, and shower areas using established techniques and appropriate equipment.
- Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, and metal fixtures to ensure a pristine appearance.
- Replace light bulbs and carry out minor repairs on furnishings and equipment as needed.
- Manage waste disposal, including trash removal and recycling efforts, while ensuring cleanliness at building entrances.
- Rearrange furniture to facilitate cleaning and support special events as directed.
- Communicate supply needs to the Custodial Worker II for timely ordering and delivery.
- Participate in training and educational programs as required.
- Adhere to safety protocols to prevent accidents and comply with relevant regulations.
- Lock and unlock facilities as necessary, ensuring security and access.
Daily Duties:
- Complete custodial work orders by documenting additional tasks performed and verifying completion of listed items.
- Submit completed work orders to the Custodial Worker II for processing.
- Operate university vehicles for tasks such as transporting furniture or supplies when required.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license is mandatory.
- Preferred: A minimum of three months of relevant custodial experience.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to comprehend and follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Capacity to learn the operation and maintenance of custodial equipment.
- Physical ability to climb ladders and perform manual tasks safely.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a diverse population.
Working Conditions:
- The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, with exposure to varying weather conditions and physical demands.
Essential Functions:
- Frequent walking, standing, and lifting of light objects.
- Occasional lifting of heavier items and pushing/pulling of equipment.
