Educational Requirements:
Possession of a valid North Carolina practical nursing license and current BCLS certification is required.
Experience:
No prior experience is necessary.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrates exceptional mental and emotional resilience when interacting with patients experiencing health challenges; employs tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and professionalism in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
Actively serves as an advocate for patients. Must possess comprehensive knowledge of practical nursing principles and skills to effectively deliver patient care and treatment.
Familiarity with examination, diagnostic, and treatment room protocols is essential. Understanding of medications and their potential side effects is required. Knowledge of patient education strategies to facilitate self-care programs is necessary. Awareness of common safety risks and precautions to maintain a secure work environment is crucial.
Skills in administering a variety of treatments and medications as prescribed, utilizing various examination and treatment equipment, taking vital signs, maintaining accurate records, and writing reports are vital.
Ability to establish and sustain effective working relationships with patients, medical personnel, and the community is important. Must be capable of responding calmly and effectively in emergency situations, interpreting, adapting, and applying guidelines and procedures, and communicating clearly in both written and verbal forms.
Knowledge of current hospital emergency protocols, safety measures, disaster response, and infection control policies is expected.
