Job Summary

The University of Findlay is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Aid Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our Office of Financial Aid, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional support to our students and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide financial aid counseling to incoming and continuing students and their families, with a focus on first-time freshmen.
  • Develop and maintain accurate Financial Aid (FA) Estimates for prospective students and their families.
  • Collaborate with the admissions team to distribute FA Estimates and assist students and families with finding ways to cover University costs.
  • Counsel and provide regular outreach to undergraduate students and families regarding their financial aid and related processes.
  • Work with admissions to ensure the financial aid process is completed for fall and spring starts prior to new students sitting in class.
  • Monitor the Accounts Receivables report and help current students with options to cover balances due.
  • Participate in admissions events, such as Preview Days, Scholarship Days, New Student Registration, and New Student Orientation.
  • Provide excellent customer service to the entire UF community, conveying accurate descriptions of federal, state, and institutional policies, and presenting financial aid and financial literacy information in classrooms or workshops.
  • Maintain a membership to a local, regional, or national Financial Aid Organization and stay up-to-date on all FSA regulations.
  • Provide support for the front desk during peak times and as needed.
  • Foster a positive work atmosphere and relationship with the team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of experience in Financial Aid.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Financial aid experience desirable and additional years of related experience.
  • VA certifying official experience.
Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear, and frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time 12-month position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some occasional night and weekend hours are required to provide support events for prospective students, new student registration, outreach activities, and move-in weekend in August.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.
