Job Title: Special Education Teacher

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at Athletes Global Corporation in Brooklyn, NY.

Job Summary:

The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for planning and conducting classes/activities adapted to the needs of students in collaboration with other teachers and teaching assistants. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and NYS Certification in Special Education Early Childhood (Birth-2nd grade).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and conduct classes/activities adapted to the needs of students in collaboration with other teachers and teaching assistants.
  • Assess and prepare Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and implement and evaluate short and long-term goals and objectives.
  • Participate in activities pertaining to student transitions to kindergarten and attend turning five meetings.
  • Participate in Annual Review meetings with Committee on Preschool Special Education administrators (CPSE).
  • Provide educational assessment and evaluation of students annually in all educational domains using standardized tools and informal teacher observations.
  • Prepare and adapt all individual and group lesson plans and materials, equipment, and furniture arrangement, and necessary modifications of environment utilizing Creative Curriculum and Al's Pals social-emotional learning curriculum.
  • Maintain records of daily attendance and progress and write quarterly reports, annual reports, and other data as requested.
  • Ensure that services are rendered to students with the utmost regard for their personal dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
  • Participate in activities outside the classroom where necessary, i.e., trips, pool (only BK SITE), gym, and community walks.
  • Serve and participate as a member at interdisciplinary team meetings, Annual Reviews, parent meetings, Special Review Committee meetings, In-Services, etc. as required.
  • Orient, train, delegate, and supervise the work of teaching assistants.
  • Obtain approval of class equipment and materials when necessary.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education.
  • NYS Certification in Special Education Early Childhood (Birth-2nd grade).
  • NYS Certification in Early Childhood Education or N-6 (for Day Care and UPK Teachers).
  • Meet all additional NY State Certification requirements.
  • Availability Monday-Friday 8am-3pm, year-round.
  • Fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
