About the Role

The Respiratory Care Practitioner I will be responsible for providing respiratory care services through patient assessment, planning, intervention, education, and evaluation. This includes performing various respiratory care procedures, such as oxygen and aerosolized medication delivery, ventilator care, bronchial hygiene therapy, diagnostic services, and patient and staff education.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality respiratory care services to patients, prioritizing their safety and well-being.
  • Assess patient physical status through inspection, palpation, auscultation, percussion, patient behavior, and reviewing existing data in patient records.
  • Administer treatments according to physician orders, explaining therapy and therapeutic goals to patients, and modifying treatment procedures based on patient response.
  • Determine appropriateness of prescribed therapy and recommend methods to physicians to achieve therapeutic goals.
  • Maintain different modes of oxygen therapy, ensuring adequate PaO2 levels with accurate inspired oxygen levels.
  • Administer intermittent positive pressure breathing (IPPB) or Aerosol Therapy, preparing prescribed medications and adjusting machines/devices to meet individual patient needs.
  • Provide postural drainage, vibration, and percussion to ensure proper bronchial secretion drainage.
  • Instruct patients and families in incentive spirometer use, metered dose inhaler administration, postural drainage, clapping, oxygen therapy, ventilator care, and home aerosol therapy.
