The Radiologic Technologist performs radiologic procedures to generate data that assists in patient diagnosis. The responsibilities of this position include:

· Operating x-ray equipment to capture radiographs of specified body areas.

· Under the guidance of a Radiologist, conducting x-ray/fluoro procedures on patients.

· Communicating procedures to patients and addressing their inquiries.

· Administering barium salts or other chemical mixtures as necessary.

· Utilizing stationary and/or portable equipment in various settings including the Emergency Department and Operating Room.

· Capturing images and processing film.

· Monitoring, documenting, and communicating as required using computerized documentation systems.

· Applying knowledge of age-specific patient needs in the execution of duties.

· Mentoring and orienting new staff members.

· Implementing radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure to patients and staff.

· Ensuring a safe environment for administering contrast materials.

· Assisting with patient transportation.

· Adhering to Standard Precautions and utilizing personal protective equipment as required.

· Demonstrating excellent communication and customer service skills.

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

· Capable of making independent decisions while maintaining professionalism and a positive demeanor. Initiative and judgment are essential in fulfilling responsibilities.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

A. Education/Skills

Technical or vocational training is required.

B. Experience

A minimum of 1 year of experience is preferred.

C. Licenses, Registrations, and/or Certifications

MRT, BLS, and ARRT certifications are required, or candidates must be registry eligible with the ARRT; if only registry-eligible, ARRT certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire. BLS certification must be acquired from an HCA approved vendor.
