Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled VDOT certified construction inspector to join our team in the Salem District on the I-81 corridor. As a construction inspector, you will be responsible for performing inspection services on roadway paving and widening projects.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Inspect work performed by construction contractors to ensure conformance with contract plans and specifications
  • Track and document work performed
  • Prepare Daily Reports electronically and submit daily
  • Participate in all required meetings and prepare meeting minutes
  • Report any non-complying work as well as individuals who fail to perform their work in a skillful, safe and workmanlike manner
Requirements
  • A high school graduate or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years construction inspection experience
  • Experience should include a minimum of 3 projects and/or contracts with asphalt paving on roadways or highways
  • Thorough knowledge of asphalt paving construction practices and methods
  • Possess the ability to communicate both orally and in writing to report on progress and outcome of technical assignments and to present recommendations
