Job Title: Elementary Guidance Counselor

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Elementary Guidance Counselor to join our team at the George Keverian School.

Job Summary:

The Elementary Guidance Counselor will provide academic, social, and personal support services to students in grades K-8. This includes providing individual and group counseling, assisting students in setting academic and personal goals, and working collaboratively with staff members to implement curriculum and build a positive school culture.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct academic, social, and personal support services to students individually, in classrooms, and in large groups.
  • Assist students in setting academic and personal goals.
  • Provide responsive services as needed to address academic, social, and emotional concerns.
  • Act as 504 Team Leader for eligible students on caseload.
  • Monitor students who are academically at risk.
  • Work collaboratively with staff members to implement curriculum and help build a positive school culture.
  • Participate in summer professional development for an additional week prior to the start of the school year.
  • Work with administration to uphold and support all school policies and procedures.
  • Assist in special projects as assigned by the Principal and Director of Guidance.
  • Attend team-based meetings to collaborate with teachers to support students academically and socially.
  • Collaborate with outside and partnering agencies.
  • Attend IEP meetings.
  • Monitor attendance for all students on assigned caseload.
  • Communicate with parents regarding academic progress and attendance monitoring.
  • Complete referrals for services.
  • Filing 51(a) reports.
  • Attend teacher conferences and other night events as assigned by the director/principal.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned in helping to maintain a safe and orderly school environment.
  • Serve as an advocate for students by utilizing skills that respect issues of cultural and ethnic diversity and equity for every student and family.
  • Attend district professional development and meetings.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Principal and Director of Guidance.
Requirements:
  • Minimum: Master's degree in Guidance from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum: Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education certification for the position of Guidance Counselor, K-8.
Preferred Experience:
  • EPS respects linguistic diversity and believes that candidates who speak another language bring value to the district culture and diversity.
Salary and Benefits:
  • Based on the Everett Teachers' Association salary scale.
  • The stipend for this position is $3,800.
Working Time:

Hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. plus 5 additional days at the discretion of the building principal.
