About the Role

Menzies Aviation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced GSE Lead Mechanic to join our team. As a GSE Lead Mechanic, you will be responsible for leading and directing the activities of other GSE mechanics, as well as performing the work of a mechanic as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Direction: Lead and direct the activities of other GSE mechanics, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Mechanical Duties: Perform the work of a mechanic, including but not limited to:
    • Inspecting and maintaining all types of aviation equipment, including ground power units, AC/Heat carts, air start units, and more.
    • Diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical issues with aviation equipment.
    • Verifying that all equipment is in good working condition and meets safety standards.
    • Maintaining accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of GSE mechanics, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for junior mechanics, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their duties effectively.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with other departments and teams within Menzies Aviation, as well as with external stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: A minimum of 5 years' experience in automotive or mechanical work, with a strong background in aviation equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Certifications and Licenses: A valid driver's license and any other relevant certifications or licenses required for the role.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Proficiency in diagnostic equipment and the ability to read schematics and technical manuals.
Working Conditions

The GSE Lead Mechanic will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions and potentially hazardous materials. The ability to work in a team environment and to adapt to changing priorities is essential for this role.
