Chief Pilot Job Description

FlyUSA, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Pilot to lead our Part 135 operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet, while also providing exceptional customer service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for all flight operations
  • Ensure compliance with Part 135 regulations, company policies, and safety standards
  • Manage and lead a team of pilots, promoting a culture of excellence, integrity, and customer service
  • Perform flight duties on qualified aircraft as required
  • Develop and implement operational procedures and strategies to optimize efficiency, safety, and growth
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Scheduling departments to ensure timely inspections, repairs, and maintenance of the fleet
  • Oversee pilot training and development, including scheduling initial and recurrent training in line with fleet policies and safety standards
  • Ensure all pilots meet Federal Aviation Regulations and company requirements
  • Support HR in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new pilots
  • Maintain up-to-date aircraft documents, checklists, publications, and databases
  • Supervise flight planning, aircraft performance, and resource allocation to ensure optimal operations
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Chief Pilot or Director of Operations in a Part 135 operation
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as Pilot in Command of a Part 121 or 135-operated aircraft
  • Experience leading a team of at least 25 pilots
  • Thorough knowledge of FAA, ICAO, and other international flight operations regulations
  • Valid Airline Transport Pilot certificate
  • Extensive experience as a corporate/charter pilot
  • In-depth understanding of Part 135 regulations
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Exceptional decision-making and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic, customer-centric environment
  • Minimum of 5,000 total flight hours
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Type ratings in HS-125 or Citation Ultra (preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in aviation or related field (preferred)
  • Extensive experience in Hawker 800 and/or Citation Ultra aircraft (preferred)
