About the Role:

The Insurance Claims Specialist is a critical member of our team, responsible for coordinating and administering the company's casualty and property insurance claims. This role requires strong analytical and organizational skills, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and administer casualty and property insurance claims, ensuring compliance with policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement, and develop strategies to reduce workers' compensation costs and minimize lost time.
  • Work closely with the Safety Department and Operations to develop and implement comprehensive light duty and return-to-work programs.
  • Coordinate with the FMLA administrator on cases where workers' compensation, ADA, and FMLA intersect.
  • Assist in preparing claim trend reports for senior management and Operations, including monthly and quarterly loss run reports, open litigation reports, and annual claims cost.
  • Identify claim trends and coordinate with the Safety Department to recommend safety measures to eliminate or reduce the incidence of occupational injuries.
  • Coordinate and conduct training on proper workers' compensation procedures.
  • Serve as a resource and provide authoritative advice and guidance regarding casualty and property insurance for the legal team, Operations, and Safety Department.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in insurance claims management, with relevant experience related to automobile, workers' compensation, and third-party property claims.
  • Work experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, or a similar discipline is preferred; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • Certified Professional Claims Adjuster (CPCA) or Certified Claims Adjuster (CCA) Certified Workers' Compensation Professional (CWCP) or Associate in Claims (AIC) would be beneficial.
