Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse at AMN Healthcare, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and education to nursing staff and others. Your clinical knowledge, skills, and competency will be essential in delivering evidence-based patient care in accordance with current standards of practice, policy, and procedure.

Key Responsibilities

• Assign patient care according to the nursing skill, knowledge, and scope of practice of staff.

• Orient, facilitate learning experiences, and provide education to nursing staff and others based on quality improvement indicators, outcomes, and implementation.

• Possess clinical knowledge, skills, and competency to provide evidence-based patient care in accordance with current standards of practice, policy, and procedure, and BSMH mission.

• Perform comprehensive assessments of patients' clinical conditions and psychosocial needs, and develop, implement, and prioritize plans of care.

• Apply the nursing process in patient care delivery, assess patients' physical and emotional responses to treatment, and revise plans of care accordingly.

• Assist patients and families in coping with patients' illnesses, collaborate with others in the delivery of coordinated patient care, and apply cultural diversity and inclusion principles when caring for patients and their support resources.

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.

• Ability to communicate with patients in a manner they can understand, considering their personal preferences.

• Compassionate, relationship-based approach to help find meaning in illness, suffering, pain, and existence.

• Ability to remain calm, adaptive, and collective during emergencies, and manage care of patients with chest tubes, assess patients through hemodynamic monitoring, insert and monitor transvenous pacing/temporary pacing, and administer means for conscious sedation.

Working Conditions

• Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.

• May be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse, required to use physical restraints, exposed to high noise levels and bright lights, and exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids.

• Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies concerning infection control.
